Cotswold Double Gloucester
Cotswold Double Gloucester
Cotswold, England
Cotswold is a variation of Double Gloucester, a cheddar like cheese.
Gloucester is a traditional, semi-hard cheese, made in Gloucestershire, England, since the 16th century.
There are two types of Gloucester cheese: Single and Double; both are made from milk from Gloucestershire breed cows farmed within the English county of Gloucestershire.
Both types have a natural rind (outer layer) and a hard texture, but Double Gloucester is allowed to age for longer periods than Single, and it has a stronger and more pronounced flavor and is also slightly firmer.
Also known as "Pub Cheese", Cotswold has the savory addition of chives and onions.
Serve atop a burger or make the definitive grilled cheese sandwich or omelette.
Great with beer!
