After taking over their fathers dairy in 2000, these three sisters (Jill G. Basch, Karen G. Howard, and Lynn G. Stray), decided to start making cheese, and one cheese only, Point Reyes Farmstead Original Blue. At the same time, they hire Monte McIntyre, who had been making Maytag Blue cheeses.
Since 2001 Point Reyes Farmstead has grown steadily. In 2006, the business and farm received Outstanding Dairy of the Year award for excellence from the Sonoma County Fair.
This farmstead blue is aged 6 months, semi-firm, creamy and has moderate veining.
