Domaine de Fontsainte Corbières Gris de Gris Rosé 2012 750 ml $15 1.5l $35
How about a little pink wine for the red carpet viewing? While watching the Oscars this Sunday, pretend you're at the Cannes film festival with this little French treat from Corbières, which is located in the Languedoc-Rousillon area giving you that sunny southern French feel.
The Domaine, started in 1971, produces a scant 21,000 cases of terroir driven country wine. The Rosé is my favorite of the bunch. It is a blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir, Mouvedre, Carignan, and Cinsault.
The wine is made by saignée or the bleeding of the grapes, where it is then inoculated and goes through a 35-day fermentation, ending with the arrest of malolactic fermentation keeping the wine crisp and refreshing. The color is a perfect salmon hued pink, not too heavy in body and light in alcohol.
FYI: We have a few magnums in stock if you plan on watching the entire Oscar broadcast!
I like this with raw or smoked salmon or goat cheese.
Picandou Goat France 1.4 oz for $7
Picandou is a wonderful French goat cheese from Périgord. It is light and creamy with distinct grassy goat flavors. This cheese is perfect by itself or warmed in a pan for a salad.
